Join us Tuesday, April 23 for the 8th annual National Park College Administrative Professionals Day Workshop. Our theme this year is “The Power of You.” If you hold an administrative position, we hope you will join us for a day of celebration and fun. There will be vendors, door prizes, breakout topics and lunch will be provided. Esther Dixon will provide a keynote address. Esther Dixon is a life-long resident of Hot Springs, AR. A Hot Springs High School Alumni graduate, with a Business Administration Degree (AB) from Southern Tech. Esther has over 25 years’ experience in public service and outreach providing education, awareness, and assistance to the community. Esther is Garland County District 3 Justice of the Peace (3rd Term), serving on the Finance (Vice Chair), Human Resources, and Public Health, Welfare, and Safety committees, as well as chairwoman of the Garland County Census Complete Count Committee. Esther is Founder of Diamonds in The Rough - Women’s Transitional Ministries established in 2017, which improves the quality of overall life, health, and wellbeing of the community. She is First Vice President of the Hot Springs NAACP - National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Unit #6013 (Advocate for civil rights and social justice for all people), Executive Director of Difference Makers of Hot Springs (Provides education, awareness, and assistance to the community). Esther has had an amazing opportunity to be an active community partner with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Translational Research Institute (TRI) for over 8 years serving in various capacities that include; TRI-Community Advisory Board Member, Community Partners Educated as Research Leaders (CPEARL), Community Engagement Alliance Against COVID-19 (CEAL) Member, Leaders in Social Innovation and Change Training Program, Community Based Participatory Research Scholars Program (CBPR), and Social Justice Coalition Member. Levi Hospital Health Assessment Advisory Board Member, Central Arkansas Re-Entry Coalition (CARE) Member, Hot Springs Toastmasters Club #7643 member, and a Certified Notary Public. Esther has numerous community and organization affiliations that she supports and recognitions that include 2023 Difference Maker of Hot Springs Trailblazer Award, 2023 Hot Springs Civitan Citizen of the Year Award, and 2023 and 2022 Sentinel Record Reader’s Choice Award “Best Elected Official” and “Woman of the Year” nominee, respectively. Esther established Diamonds in the Rough to provide transitional services and health assistance to women, youth, and families with a focus on reducing health inequities and disparities of marginalized communities by establishing sustainable outcomes in health, literacy, youth homelessness, and families in crisis. Esther is married to Terance Dixon, Sr. They have a son, Terance Jr. She enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and traveling.
