In this class you will utilize free GIMP photo editing software to learn common image file types, image resolution and resizing, cropping and using composition guides, exposure correction using Curves and the Histogram, and color correction. Other topics covered will include an introduction to the layers and the alpha channel (image transparency), using the paint brush and eraser tools, dodging, burning, and vignetting, using the cloning and healing tools, mastering the selection tools, and blending multiple exposures together (a form of HDR.) (Students to bring thumb drive with jpeg or png images to work on in class.)
